So, this is my fifth skirt using this pattern and the third striped one. When you find something good you have to just go with it, right? It's so easy to make and easy to wear. I'm clearly a little bit addicted. Originally, I was going to try to figure out how to make this reversible but it became kind of a jumble in my head. So, I took the easy way out and did the same old version.
The pattern for the skirt is from the book Sew U Home Stretch by Wendy Mullin. I think this is a great book if you're a little intimidated about stitching with knit fabric. It's actually the only one I own about knits but I'd love to get this Colette one. Have you tried either one?
This skirt is so easy to make I was easily able to cut it out and sew it together before going to a get-together at 3pm on Saturday. I even had to rip out a section and re-stitch because the stripes weren't lining up perfectly. If you take a close look at the hem, you'll see it's not perfectly level but I don't really care. I picked up the fabric at the bulk by-the-pound Michael Levine store a month or so ago. There was just enough for a skirt and probably cost about $1. Score!
The top is actually a sample from my soon-to-be-released pattern. The fabric was a total pain in the a** to work with, just way too slippery when cutting out which then makes everything else harder. I've been really pleasantly surprised (thrilled actually!) by how many people have signed up to be pattern testers. I really don't want to turn anyone away but I'm also not sure how I'll be able to go through so many responses. It's a great problem to have!
