Hello friends! Today, I'm sharing my latest scrap quilt. This quilt is made using scraps of fabric leftover from my garment sewing projects. There are scraps from dresses, shirts and even overalls all mixed up in there. Making these improv quilts is my favorite way to use my garment making scraps. I love that I'm able to make something useful from what may otherwise be concerned trash. And, the process of piecing the fabric together is a great way to get in the flow and just enjoy the making process.
DIY Improv Quilted Coat
My quilted coat is finally done! I've been working on this baby for at least five months now. And honestly, I don't think I ever want to make a quilt coat again. Well, if I used pre-quilted fabric then I would consider making a quilt coat again. But, I think one is enough for me. And this is really a beautiful of coat so I will be calling it my masterpiece and hopping off the quilt coat bandwagon.
Green Waves Improvisational Quilt Made with Garment Fabric Scraps
Hello friends! Would you believe that this is my first blog post of 2021? It's been tough to get started this year. So, I'm starting off nice and easy with a quilt that I made in 2020. I shared a bit about it on Instagram but I thought it might be fun to go a little bit more in depth here on the blog.
This is an improvisational quilt made with fabric scraps from a variety of garment sewing projects from the last 20 years or so of sewing. One of the things I love most about using my fabric scraps to make quilts is that each quilt contains all of these lovely memories from other projects that I've made over the years. They're like warm, cozy (and useful!) scrapbooks of makes from the past.
