Last week on YouTube, I did a live sewalong for the Lela Skirt sewing pattern. This elastic waist pattern is one of my all time favorites. I first designed it back in 2014 and then re-released it last year with new views and updated sizing. The skirt is very simple to sew and comfortable to wear. The pattern comes with three hem styles, two length and three pocket styles for a total of 18 different design combinations. As you’ll discover in the video, it only takes about 90 minutes to sew this skirt from start to finish, making it perfect for summer sewing.
Patti Pocket Skirt Blog Tour
Today is my stop on the Patti Pocket Skirt Blog Tour. The Patti Pocket skirt by Amy Nicole is designed for petite women. So, you might be wondering why I’m decided to take it on. Well, Amy sent me a really nice email and asked if I would show how the pattern can be used even if you’re not petite. (I’m 5’11” so definitely not in the petite range at all.) The thing I love most about sewing is that it can be adapted for all body types. As an advocate (is that the right word?) for the #sewingtall community, I’m really happy to see that there are also people promoting sewing for petites.
DIY Sequin Wrap Skirt
Most of the year I sew with neutral fabrics that are easy to mix and match and just all around comfortable and dare I say, sensible. But when the holidays come around, it’s time to celebrate and sew something glamorous and not at all sensible. This year I had a holiday party the first weekend of December that required cocktail attire. I considered wearing the sequin Mesa Dress I made last year but it felt a little over the top for this event. So I decided to make a sequin skirt and a camisole. The fabrics are full of textured fabulousness and tons of sparkle. It really made the perfect sophisticated cocktail outfit.
