DIY Outfit – Neoprene Mini Dress

Sometimes, all you need is a simple mini dress; especially when it comes with the perfect short sleeve and two slim zippered pockets. This super cute dress is super short but the sleeves and high neckline keep it from looking too revealing. Read on to see how I would DIY this sweet little number.

How to DIY a Neoprene Mini Dress

Step 1: Today's inspiration dress is this super cute Mod City Dress from Nasty Gal. This would make a great dress for hitting the holiday party circuit.

Step 2: Simplicity 2054 mirrors the shape of our inspiration. To make a perfect match to our inspiration, shorten the sleeves and hem and add a horizontal seam just below the waist with in-seam pockets. A few alternate patterns are Vogue V9022, which has front pockets and kimono sleeves, and BurdaStyle 7602 which has a great shape and vertical pockets.

Step 3: The inspiration dress has raw edges on the sleeves, hem and neckline. To achieve this without some major unraveling issues a neoprene fabric is in order. It's totally on-trend and think of all the time you'll save! I found this great green neoprene from Mood fabric with black on the wrong side.
