This is actually my third Linden. My first was a test, the second was for the swap and by then I was addicted and had to make another. :) So, I pulled out this red sweatshirt fabric, that reminds me of cream of tomato soup and set to work. I decided to add a little triangle detail to the neckline and a kangaroo pocket to the front. When I got my new iphone, it no longer fit into my workout armband so I thought a pocket would be great for holding my phone while I pumped up. Sure, I could just buy a new armband but the kangaroo pocket is so cute!
This fabric is kind of lightweight so I interfaced the back of the pocket before stitching it on. I considered using the wrong side of the fabric for the extra details but it looked a little too distracting. So to create a little contrast, but not too much, I serged the edges of the pocket and left the edges visible.
Then to make it extra special and fun. I added little studs to the pocket corners. I found these at JoAnn's but there are also a lot on Amazon. They have little prongs that you stick into the fabric and then fold down on the wrong side. They are really easy to install and I love how they look.
This pattern has a lot of ease built in. I made this in a size 10, one size smaller than my measurements on the size chart. For Kelli, I made a size 4, which actually fit me too! It was tighter but not inappropriately so. For future Lindens, I think I'll choose my size based more on what style I'll want for a particular fabric and I'll try going down in size.
I really love this sweatshirt and have been wearing it almost non-stop. Admittedly, the triangle applique is very slightly not symmetrical but the super coziness of this sweatshirt can't be beat. I'm really looking forward to making more and trying out View B. In case you're wondering, here I'm wearing my sweatshirt with my fave polka dot keds and super high rise jeans. Have you made yourself a sweatshirt yet? Do you find yourself wearing it all the time and when you're not wearing it, kind of wishing you were wearing it? Or is that just me? :)
