Yesterday, I shared a moodboard of my spring wardrobe essentials. Of course, one of my go-to's for many months now has been the Lou Box Top. This version in particular has been one of my favorites. The bird print is really fun but the colors are not at all frivolous. It's been a great top to wear to work with jeans or a fitted skirt.
On the day I took photos, it was blazing hot outside so I paired the top with a pair of DIY denim shorts. I'm so glad that the temps are little bit cooler this week and I'll be able to wear pants outside without breaking into a sweat. But it goes to show that this is a great basic top that I'll be able to wear all year round. Just add a sweater and boots in cooler months and pair it with shorts and sandals for summer.
This version of the Lou Box Top features the scoop neck and straight hem. You can see drawings of all six styles available in the pattern here. The fabric is a sheer rayon blend that I found in downtown LA's fashion district. Rather than lining it, I just wear a camisole underneath.
What are your go-to patterns for year long wardrobe staples? Do you have a favorite garment that you wear all year long?
