Lately, I've seen a few stretch lace pieces out there, to be specific stretch lace bodysuits, and all I can say is: Yes. Please. It's like the 80s made out with the 90s and voila–the lace bodysuit. I haven't made anything with stretch lace–yet (I do have some in my stash!!!)–but just in case you're feeling the stretch lace love as well, I have a plan for how you can make a lace bodycon dress of your own.
How to Make a Lace Bodycon Dress
Step 1: Today's inspiration is a this lace dress. This is not everyday wear (at least in my book) but it would be great for a special night out. And of course, if you're not feeling the wear-it-over-your-bikini style, just add a stretch slip or lining as seen here.
Step 2: For the pattern, I would use the Nettie bodysuit/dress pattern by Closet Case Files. I totally love the bodysuits I've made with this pattern and just want to make more and more and more of them. See my versions here and here. This pattern is super easy to make and really fun to wear.
Step 3: For fabric, you'll need a stretch lace and matching solid if you're going to make a slip. You could even use the solid as an underlining on the front and back pieces if you don't want a separate slip.
