Hi sewing friends! There have been so many amazing launches in the sewing world over the past couple days, I can’t resist sharing some with you. So read on, and if you like this post let me know and maybe I’ll try to make it a series.
Named Patterns New Black Collection
Yesterday Named Patterns released a new collection of 11 patterns. They are utterly chic and so sophisticated. My favorite has to be the Lexi Top which also comes with a dress variation that has the most gorgeous waist pleat.
The Fall Issue of Seamwork
Seamwork is the online magazine from Colette Patterns. Every month they release a load of amazing sewing related articles that are free for everyone to read and if you’re a subscriber you get 2-3 patterns. I started subscribing to Seamwork last month because I fell in love with this bikini pattern (coming to the blog very soon!) and I was nervous about whether I would like the patterns every month. I’m very pleased that I completely LOVE the Moji pants (above right). The issue also includes the Seamworker's Guide to LA by Christine Haynes. Bookmark this one whether you live in LA or are just planning to visit. I agree with all of her advice and there are a few on the list I’ll need to check out!
Pattern Review Sewing Bee
Pattern Review is hosting a competition during the month of September and the first challenge (a fitted shirt) was announced a couple days ago. If I had a fitted shirt pattern on my to-sew list, I’d definitely join in but I’m going to focus in on what I already have going. If you feel like taking on a challenge, go check it out. It looks like a fun!
Momiform MAKEover from Baste & Gather
Lauren at Baste & Gather has a series coming up featuring sewing moms giving their daily uniforms a makeover. Sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun plus there’s going to be a giveaway of a Janome sewing machine. Go follow her and stay up to date on all the action.
And what about me?
I recently discovered the Reyna Lay Designs podcast and I totally love it. She has a lot of great guests and I love hearing their stories. I enjoy listening to podcasts, especially on the way to work, but I've had a hard time getting into many craft related podcasts. I can't wait to listen to more episodes!
I had a lot of fun participating in the Sew Photo Hop on Instagram that was hosted by House of Pinheiro. I don't quite know what I'm going to do with myself now that it's over. I loved scrolling through the photos everyday and discovering new people.
I’m working on Fall sewing plans which won’t be as “Fall” as most folks because it’s crazy hot in LA and it never really seems to cool down. So, I’ll be making things that I can wear all year and layer on cooler days. I have so many gorgeous fabrics and I just need to figure out what to do with them.
I’m thinking about adding a “Beginners Pattern Bundle” of the Lou Box Top and Baseball Skirt for a slightly discounted price. What do you think? Is it something you're interested in? Anything else you'd like to see or learn about?
In case you missed it:
Baseball Skirt Pattern Release
I released a new pattern a few weeks ago!! It’s super easy to make, very comfortable to wear and great for beginners.
Lou Box Top Review on Craft Sessions
Felicia at the Craft Sessions wrote the most glowing review of the Lou Box Top pattern. Thank you so much Felicia! I'm glad you liked it.
New Sewing Pinboard
I started a new Sewing pinboard on Pinterest and wrote a little update on Pinterest here.
DIY Tutorial - Lined Lou Box Top
I posted a tutorial for how to line a Lou Box Top. It might actually be easier than the original design!
Tell me, is there anything you've discovered lately that you'd like to share?
