Hello sew-friends! Today, I'm actually sharing an old make that has never been shared before. The other day, I was looking in my closet for something to wear and found this Dana Jumpsuit. This is one of the samples that I made for the pattern back at the end of 2019 and I had completely forgotten to share it. The Dana Jumpsuit is a great pattern for summer so I thought now would be the perfect time to give it a little love.
The Dana Jumpsuit is a really fun pattern that has a lot of skill building opportunities. Both views have scoop neck, short sleeves, bust darts, front patch pockets and a front tie. The front tie creates nice shaping in the front but leaves the back loose so that you're always comfortable. A number of my testers called this jumpsuit "secret pajamas"! View A has full length pants and View B is shorts with a V-neck back.
The closure is an invisible zipper at the back. If you've never sewn an invisible zipper before, I encourage you to give it a try. It's really not that hard and it gives a beautiful finish. Plus, any wonky stitches are hidden on the inside!
The fabric is a rayon that I picked up in the LA fashion district. I think I got it at Angel Textiles from a literal pile of fabric on the ground. lol! I love shopping there and digging around to see what I can find. Sadly, due to the pandemic I have not gone to the fashion district, probably since I bought this fabric. I've been working on sewing my stash (which is incredibly large btw!). The only fabric I bought during our pandemic times was knit fabric for my Summer Sweatsuit pattern. Anyway, I was hoping to get back downtown soon but the covid numbers are getting bad in LA again. So, even though I am vaccinated, I'm going to keep working through my stash for the time being.
Ok, back to the pattern! I really love wearing this jumpsuit because it's comfortable, cute and feels a little sporty. I feel put together but still like I could climb a fence if I needed too. Yay shorts! The pattern is drafted for bust/hip measurements of 32-58" (81-147cm). You can get all the details in the shop.
Btw, just in case you’re wondering. I recently got this hat on Amazon and have been wearing it non stop. It’s packable, has a chin tie (moved to the back in the photos) and you can tighten the brim to fit your head. I wear hats any time I go outside to protect my skin and eyes from the sun. I wanted something that I can travel with and that will stay on in the wind. This one checks all those boxes! You can check it out here.
If you need extra help and would benefit from video tutorials of sewing every step, I have a class for this pattern. It's currently discounted to $39. You can learn more about that here. There's also a resources page with a bunch of helpful tips and tutorials. Happy sewing!
