Here's a dress I whipped up a few months back. It's a knit fabric with very narrow black and white stripes. I based it on a pattern for a simple fitted knit dress that I made a couple years ago. The original pattern is based on an RTW dress I've owned for years. I looked for a blog post about that dress but couldn't find one.
Inspired by a maxi dress at Target, I redrafted the pattern to feature an under bust seam and low back. Initially I was going to do a racerback, but it ended up being a low V style. After trying it on, I added a second round of elastic at the waist for a more slimming look. I had to fiddle with the pattern a little to get the bodice piece correct. I tried to do gathers at the shoulder seams but they are a little looser than I'd like.
I like this dress as it is very comfortable and easy to wear but the fabric is surprisingly warm, not really good for high temperatures.
