Simplicity 2892 View D Gathered Yoke Dress

Using some fabric I thrifted in July, I set out to make an easy wear anywhere summer dress. I've worn my navy pleated neck dress so much that I decided to use Simplicity 2892 again. As before, I made the top into a dress by increasing the length. I also added in-seam pockets. This time around I added a lining because the fabric is quite lightweight. I treated the lining like an underlining, sewing the front and back lining and fabric pieces held together as one.

The fit is very loose. I've only been wearing it with a belt. The other dress I made with this pattern works without a belt I suspect because the dark color contracts, unlike this one.

Overall, I'm pleased with the dress, it's very comfortable and easy to wear, just what I had planned. It's been so warm here lately that it feels like fall will never arrive and so I'll just have to wear my many, many summer dresses all year round.
