I came down with a cold over the weekend so I spent a lot of time sleeping, drinking tea with lemon and honey, laying on the couch and watching tv. As I was laying on the couch, flipping through the on-demand options, I decided to make a little list of my all time favorite Christmas movies. I'm hoping to spend a lot of time this week hanging out, watching tv and doing a little knitting. What are your favorite holiday movies?
Top 5 Best Christmas Movies to watch this holiday
1. White Christmas
This classic musical stars Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Rosemary Clooney as musical performers who end up in an inn in Vermont for the holidays. I'm not going to tell you the rest because if you haven't seen this, you need to right away. This is my mom's favorite movie and her love for it completely transferred to me. I love everything about this movie. The songs. The dancing. The comedy. The costumes. This is the movie I have to watch every year and I can't wait to do it again.
I've loved this movie ever since it first came out. I think I saw it in theatre at least 3 times. It's so sweet and so funny. I can watch it over and over again.
This classic movie starring Rosalind Russell tells the story of a zany but lovable woman raising her orphaned nephew. The movie chronicles his childhood and the ups and downs of their lives, often at Christmas time. Like Home Alone, it's sentimental and sweet and very funny. Plus it has amazing costumes.
Jimmy Stewart. Need I say more? I actually didn't fall in love with this movie until I saw it in the theatre. It was always a little too slow at the beginning and I'd become distracted or fall asleep. But seeing it in its entirety, on the big screen I finally "got it". It's a heartwarming holiday classic.
