Just like the swimsuit I posted earlier this week, this dress has been in the works for a long time. Last summer as I was getting ready for a trip, I decided that I wanted to have a maxi-length x-back slip dress. I was inspired by a pattern that I bought in the late-90s and never made (at least never made successfully haha). Plus, all those styles are coming back in again. I’m sure that I swore to never wear bodysuits or overalls again yet here I am loving those styles.
DIY High Waisted Bikini – Review of the Soma Swimsuit by Papercut Patterns
Way back in the summer of 2016, two long years ago, I set out to make the one-piece Soma Swimsuit by Papercut Patterns. I’ve always been much more of one-piece gal than a bikini gal. (I just don’t really feel the need to show that much skin.) I worked on it for hours and hours and followed all of the online tutorials but I could not get it to fit me in a way that made me feel comfortable and have my bust supported.
DIY Caftan – Review of the Charlie Caftan by Closet Case Patterns
This summer is turning out to be the summer of the caftan for me. Last week I shared a caftan hack of Lou Box Dress 1 pattern. And today, I have a fantastic, tropical Charlie Caftan to share. This year I’ve only sewn one garment with a zipper so I’m definitely into a the comfort zone with my me-mades. And, I’ll be spending a week long vacation in Hawaii this month so I’m planning to spend a lot of time in caftans. My skin is super sensitive to the sun so I always cover up as much as possible and this year, the caftan will be my go-to for chic coverage.
