I’m super excited about today’s video because it features a very special guest – Melissa from Melly Sews! I’ve been following Melissa for many years now and have found so many of her sewing tutorials to be immensely helpful in my own sewing journey.

A few months ago, I reached out to her because I was going to be in her hometown of Austin for a long weekend. She suggested that we do a DIY holiday gift exchange video and I quite readily said yes. Coincidentally, we both made a zipper pouch but in different styles! It was so much fun to meet irl and exchange these handmade gifts. Today, we are both releasing the video tutorials for how to make them.

VIDEO How to fold and store tissue paper sewing patterns | Sew DIY

In today’s video, I share my favorite method for folding and storing tissue paper sewing patterns. This is especially helpful if you use Big 4 patterns with those tiny envelopes and you cut out (as opposed to trace) your patterns. (By the way, in case you missed it, I also did a video about tracing versus cutting.) The first best thing about this folding method is that it makes the pattern pieces easy to get back into those tiny envelopes. The second best thing is that it keeps them flat and organized so that when you’re ready to sew the pattern again, it’s easy to find the pattern pieces you need.

This video is the last in my series of pattern focused videos but if you have a special request let me know and I may just do a video about it. And let me know if you have any favorite methods for storing this type of printed pattern. Happy sewing!

VIDEO A peek inside my vintage sewing pattern collection

In today’s video, I’m giving you a peek inside my vintage sewing pattern collection. (You will want to grab a cup of tea or coffee before you start watching because my collection is big and this is a long video packed with eye candy.) I’ve loved vintage patterns for as long as I’ve been sewing. I don’t actually sew with them a lot but they are a huge source of inspiration for me. I love looking at the fashion design from decades past as well as the graphic design of the patterns themselves. If you like vintage patterns too, make sure to watch the video and if you would like to add some to your personal collection make sure to scroll to the bottom of the post for an exciting shop update.
