Sometimes, all you need is a simple mini dress; especially when it comes with the perfect short sleeve and two slim zippered pockets. This super cute dress is super short but the sleeves and high neckline keep it from looking too revealing. Read on to see how I would DIY this sweet little number.
DIY Outfit – Patterned Pants
You've got to be a little brave to wear patterns, especially patterned pants. If you're looking for a starter pair, to test the patterned pants waters, these black and white ones should fit the bill. Not too flashy with a super chic painted look they'll take you to rock concerts and art galleries with equal ease. Read on to see how I would DIY them.
DIY Outfit – Striped Dress
It's still crazy hot in LA and I'd really like to start wearing Fall clothes but meanwhile, I'm trying to work some transitional pieces into my wardrobe so that I can at least imagine that Fall is here. This dress is a great example of a transitional piece. The sleeves and high neck make it covered up just enough so that when paired with tights and a cardi, it would actually keep you quite warm.
How to DIY a Striped Dress
Step 1: Today's inspiration dress is this striped dress from Zara. It even has a really cool little gold zippered pocket on the side.
Step 2: For the pattern you need a basic a-line dress with elbow length sleeves. Simplicity 2054 is a great option as is the Laurel dress by Colette Patterns.
Step 3: For fabric, most any knit, like this stripe, will do but a nice thick double knit will easily take you into the Fall.
This would be a really simple dress to make and just the kind of project that I love to do–quick, easy and very wearable.
