Start Sketching with My Body Model Custom Croquis

I have a bit of a confession to make. Despite going to design school and having taken lots of art classes, I am not confident in my sketching skills. Especially fashion sketching. Granted, I’ve never studied fashion drawing specifically. But still. Shouldn’t I just be really good at drawing clothing? I want to be really good at drawing the clothing ideas I have in my head but they usually turn out looking like lopsided lumps.

But here’s the thing. Drawing and sketching takes practice. And most of the time I’d rather be sewing. So, I’ve been satisfied with my lumpy drawings as long as I can record my ideas and get to sewing.

Overalls have really become a thing haven’t they? I made my first pair back in 2017 and I was really nervous that they’d quickly be going out of style but they seem here to stay (for at least a few more years). I also thought that they might be awkward to wear and would just sit in my closet. But I’ve worn that first pair of bibs countless times! I really love them so much that when I found myself with a few yards of leftover fabric, I decided to make them again.

A few years ago, bodysuits and overalls firmly fell into the category of things that were popular (i.e. I wore) in the 90s and that I did not need to revisit. But now? These one-piece full body garments are wardrobe staples. Especially the bodysuit. I love the bodysuit as a layering piece to keep me warm or to create a super streamlined tucked-in silhouette. I’ve made the Nettie Bodysuit a bunch of times before and it’s definitely a TNT pattern for me. This version however is far from ordinary or basic.
