Today is the first installment of the Jodi Knit Pants sewalong and to get us in the mood to sew this pattern, I decided to start off with some style inspiration. These pants are the perfect mix of style and comfort. These ankle length pants feature angled side seam pockets, a medium rise and a lightly gathered elastic waistband. These pants are easy to sew, comfortable to wear and have a stylish wide leg.
The Jodi pants have a mid-rise with wide legs and angled side seam pockets. If you want, you can also add a drawstring and top stitching to the waistband. The fit is what I'm calling a "skim fit", there's just a little bit of negative ease so that they are fitted but they are not tight or form fitting.

The wide leg of the Jodi pants are designed for sophisticated elegance while the stretch knit fabric maximizes your comfort. Above are a a few similar styles that I found in ready-to-wear. I really enjoy seeing how other people style this kind of pant. Depending on your activities (or your mood!) you can pair the Jodi pants with t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters, cardigans, hoodies and layered with loose coats.

Pattern Pairings for the Jodi Knit Pants
When planning a wardrobe, whether it’s handmade or purchased, it’s crucial to consider how different pieces go together. One of the things I love about the Jodi Knit Pants is how well they fit in with the rest of my patterns.
In no particular order, here are my top picks for patterns to pair with the Jodi pants.
Tasi Jacket The Tasi Jacket is a great layering piece for Spring and Fall. This pattern is a Draft-It-Yourself style so you can easily choose the length and ease you prefer. And, there’s a Cardigan Hack on the blog that would look amazing with the Jodi.
Lou Box Top The LBT was my first pdf pattern and it’s a classic for good reason! You can make it in woven or knit fabric and the boxy shape perfectly balances the fitted hip and waist of the Jodi Pants.
Ali Sweatshirt If you are looking to make a matching set, this sweatshirt is a great match to the Jodi. I especially like to pair the Jodi with View B which is slightly cropped and narrows to the waist.
Funnel Neck Pullover This drafting manual from my Sewing With Numbers project is another great way to make a matching sweatsuit set.
Lou Box Top with Long Sleeves When I’m staying cozy in my knit pants, I like a cozy long sleeve top as well. A great option is the Lou Box Top with long sleeves. You can use the sleeves from the Lou Box Dress 2 pattern or the Sleeve Exapansion Pack.
Turtleneck Lou Box Top Another cozy option is the Turtleneck variation for the LBT. I recently published this pattern add-on for the Lou Box Top and it’s free to download when you sign up for the newsletter.
Jodi Knit Pants SEWALONG SCHEDULE
This is a fairly simple pattern to sew, so my plan is to post the entire sewalong by the end of the month. This week and next week, we’ll be preparing to sew the pattern. Then we’ll sew the pants in two parts over the final two weeks of the month.
